B:hip cares about the underprivileged children in our local communities and supports an amazing life changing project in Thailand called Children of the Forest.
Located in the Thai–Burmese border region of Sangkhlaburi, the Children of the Forest Foundation provides a residential home, school and healthcare for stateless migrant children who are born without any form of identification. As a result, they do not qualify for free or state-subsidized healthcare and face significant challenges accessing the Thai education system. Some children are orphaned, abandoned, abused or neglected, while others are exploited for cheap labor or become victims of child trafficking.
Children of the Forest strives to break this cycle of disadvantage and poverty, and provide a pathway to a safe, stable and more fulfilling future. Their approach involves mitigating risks, and promoting empowerment, development and positive opportunities for migrant children. Their key objectives are to empower children to build a better future through education, youth development and vocational training opportunities; to equip migrant children with the necessary language, skills and knowledge to enable them to join the Thai education system and Thai way of life more easily and safely; and to provide a pathway for stateless children to gain formal Thai identification by way of a national identity card that provides them with rights and access to local health and education services.
B:hip supports Children of the Forest with care, donation, collections of clothes, food, medicine and money. Most importantly, we support the people working on this project with our encouragement and genuine interest in continuing to make new success stories. Children of the Forest is home to more than 250 children. Up to date, 14 youths have been accepted to continue their education at a university, and more than 40 are currently attending high school. Everyone is welcome to visit Children of the Forest and see how little it takes for you to make a big difference in the life of the numerous underprivileged children.
